Omroep Brabant Maps Dangerous Traffic Situations with MapTalk
Speeding cars, confusing intersections, and limited space for cyclists. Everyone knows of a dangerous traffic situation in their neighborhood. Since yesterday, Omroep Brabant has been using the online participation tool MapTalk to map out dangerous traffic situations in the province of Noord-Brabant. Through an interactive map, residents can literally put their hazardous situations on the map. This is a great example of how MapTalk provides perspective for these types of issues.
MapTalk gives Omroep Brabant the tools to engage their audience in identifying traffic hotspots. This initiative was an immediate success! Within just one day of launch, more than 250 locations were marked by concerned residents of Brabant. And the map is getting more complete by the minute!
How to report?
Residents who want to report a dangerous traffic situation can start by accessing MapTalk through the link in the article. They then accurately pinpoint the hazardous location on the map, including a brief explanation of what the issue is. The reports are reviewed by Omroep Brabant staff, and upon approval, they appear on the overall map.
This approach not only raises awareness about traffic safety but also shows how MapTalk can make a tangible contribution to creating safer communities.
We are proud that MapTalk has proven to be an effective addition for Omroep Brabant and hope this tool will provide valuable insights for other surveys as well. MapTalk 2.0
The Omroep Brabant project was the first project with the redeveloped version of MapTalk, where project developers actually managed to create the forms themselves, without having to spend a penny on hours of help of our consultants or developers!
