The GVVP (Area Vision Progressive Planning) project in Zeewolde was an ambitious area development project involving many different stakeholders. Keypoint Consultancy was called in to guide the participation process and chose MapTalk.
Using MapTalk led to an unprecedented high response: no less than 1200 responses were collected from residents, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders. This shows how effective online participation can be when deployed well.
The large amount of input has resulted in a rich picture of what different parties consider important. This has helped develop an area vision that is widely supported and takes into account different interests.
The project has demonstrated that online participation is not only efficient but can also lead to more and better input than traditional methods. By using interactive maps and structured questionnaires, people could share their opinions in an accessible way.
