PraatMee 3DTransitionTwin3D

One shared 3D reality for integrated spatial governance.

TransitionTwin3D brings GIS, BIM and participation into the same interactive 3D context: compare scenarios, surface trade-offs and gather feedback where decisions are made, online and at the TouchTable. Developed by PraatMee (MapGear B.V.) and Innobrix.

TransitionTwin3D was selected in the Innovation Impact Challenge by RVO for independent development of spatial IX innovation. A working prototype was validated in phase 1 within a municipal heat transition project. In phase 2, we are looking for municipalities to run practical cases on current spatial challenges together with us.

TransitionTwin3D is a joint effort by PraatMee (MapGear B.V.) and Innobrix. Innobrix provides the 3D models; we deliver the participation use case with PraatMee and provide the IX layer through TouchTable.

Why TransitionTwin3D?

From fragmented plans to strategic alignment.

One integrated 3D environment

Combine GIS, BIM and participation in one shared spatial truth and immediately see where interventions support or conflict with each other.

Experience plans instead of only viewing them

Compare scenarios, adjust plans and test alternatives in real time without specialist software or technical barriers.

Direct 3D stakeholder feedback

Residents, policymakers and delivery teams respond in the same environment where policy is developed.

The spatial challenge

Dutch cities are working on multiple transitions at once, competing for the same space. Plans are still often developed per sector and communicated separately, which increases complexity, slows decision-making and raises resistance risk.

The solution

Within the IIC Challenge, we develop TransitionTwin3D as a shared 3D decision-making environment for spatial transitions. Alternatives are directly comparable and impact on space, surroundings and policy becomes visible. Changes can be made in real time for explainable decisions.

Immerse in a 3D environment

One shared spatial simulation brings ideas and perspectives to life so discussions happen around the same reality. Is that transformer station really that large? Where is room for charging points? How do we keep neighborhoods attractive and sustainable?

An approach everyone understands

Stakeholders can clearly see future scenarios, walk through the online environment and leave feedback. The same conversation can also happen during physical participation evenings around the TouchTable.

This collaboration combines model quality and participation power: Innobrix handles the 3D models, while PraatMee (MapGear B.V.) integrates the participation and IX layers through TouchTable.

3D models and IX layer: collaboration with Innobrix

Within TransitionTwin3D we combine two specialisms in one workflow. Innobrix provides 3D models and spatial modelling. PraatMee (MapGear B.V.) provides the participation use case and the IX layer through TouchTable.

This creates one shared 3D environment where design variants, resident input and policy trade-offs come together directly.

Who is it for?

For phase 2 of the RVO project we are looking for partners. This is a good fit if:

  • you work for a municipality, grid operator or project developer
  • you take public consultation and participation in area development seriously
  • you want to use 3D models in participation

We are seeking municipalities and project developers for pilot projects

In phase 2, we continue development with municipalities and project developers who want to run real-world spatial challenges as pilots with us, including housing, grid upgrades, district heating, greening and climate adaptation. Participation is free, requires limited time and gives direct influence on the future of TransitionTwin3D.
